ABOUT THE SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD PROGRAM

The Social Impact Award (SIA) is the largest program in Europe whose mission is to promote social enterprise among students. This project has three stages: education, incubation and awards for best ideas.

Education: 150 workshops in 40 cities, 3,800 participants.
Awareness building: Over 430 applications thanks to wider outreach on social entrepreneurship and social enterprises
Community: Over 29,000 votes for the best ideas
Support: 34 winning teams, over EUR 85,000 of financial support

+ WHO IS THE FOUNDER OF THE SOCIAL IMPACT AWARD?

The Social Impact Award Program (SIA) was founded in 2009 by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which is part of the Vienna Business and Economics School. This program was coordinated by Impact Hub in Vienna, in cooperation with local partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Austria.

Propulsion Fund and it's operational partner Innovation Center Kosovo implement Social Impact Award in Kosovo.

The Social Impact Award (SIA) was initiated according to the idea of the Vienna Business and Economics School, with the support of the Erst¬e Foundation and Impact HUB Foundation in Vienna.

+ Examples of Social Enterprises

Unemployed women in Serbia now produce and sell bags made from used posters.
A group of young engineers from the United States produce a device that resembles a sleeping bag and serves to warm up prematurely born babies, in cases of power shortages in hospitals and clinics.
