Content of application

The 2018 Social Impact Award (SIA) Application should contain the following elements in Albanian or English:

  1. Application Form
  2. Project presentation
  3. Business plan

1— Application form

The Application Form of the 2018 Social Impact Award (SIA) will be posted on the program’s website.

2— Project presentation

The presentation of the project is the descriptive part intended to describe and present the idea for which the application is made. It may contain text, concepts, images, videos, presentations, and anything else that you think is appropriate. It may also be a combination of all the above.

This presentation will be a basis for evaluating your ideas; therefore you should make sure that it is quite clear and understandable for the person who will review it, in order to understand which social problem you want to choose and how you plan to approach it. For a comprehensive presentation, it is best to start from the assumption that the person who is performing the assessment has no knowledge of your subject. Keep in mind that the time to review individual applications is limited.

3— Business plan

The valid application should contain a business plan for your idea.

To apply for the 2018 Social Impact Award (SIA), you must submit all necessary documents through our website.

Note that the total size of all files should not exceed 6MB.

The process of assessment of ideas

The selection of the winning ideas of the 2018 Social Impact Award (SIA) takes place in three phases:

Review of applications

In the first phase, the 2018 Social Impact Award team (SIA) shall review the applications and shortlist the ideas that pass to the second round.

Interviews

Applicant teams and individuals, whose ideas will enter the second round, will be invited for an interview. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about the teams and their ideas and to make sure they are aware of all the obligations and expectations that come with the award.

Voting by the jury

After the interview, the group of finalists will be selected and the jury will make a list of the ideas according to the criteria listed below. The two best-ranked projects will receive the award.

Decisions are made at a meeting that is not open to the public and are not subject to changes or appeals.

Community Vote (online voting)

The last of the three prizes will be awarded based on online voting. The ideas that will enter the final stage will be presented as a short video on our website and the YouTube channel, and over a certain period of time, our site visitors will be able to vote for the ideas they appreciate the most. The idea that gets more votes wins the prize.

We encourage you to invite your family, friends, colleagues, and business partners to support you and vote for you. This way you can increase awareness about your project and other projects that address some of the social and environmental problems.

The rule of the process is that one can’t be awarded to Social Impact Awards (SIA). If the idea wins the community vote and the jury vote too, then the jury prize will be awarded to another.

Keep in mind that all teams and individuals participating with their ideas in the community vote, as well as all those who support them, are obliged to communicate and vote ethically. This includes the following rules:

  • It is not permissible for someone to be offered direct incentives (material, money or others) to vote for your idea;
  • It is not allowed to vote on behalf of others;
  • No voting is allowed through fake e-mail addresses;
  • It is not allowed to use automated voting apps in the voting process.

The Social Impact Award Team (SIA) reserves the right to exclude any idea if there is a suspicion that actions have been taken to manipulate the voting process.

Guidelines on the assessment of ideas

These are the criteria that will be used by the review team and the jury. Each of these three criteria is of the same value.

1— Social impact of the project

1.1. What is the value that this project creates for the target group and society? What is the project’s impact on its target group and society?

1.2. How important are the project’s objectives for the society? How complicated is the problem the project seeks to solve?

1.3. Can the concept be transferred to other markets or target groups without losing efficiency and effectiveness? Is this project going to grow?

2— How innovative is this project?

2.1. Are innovative methods and tools used to achieve the goal? Does the idea focus on new social problems or on problems for which some solutions already exist?

2.2. Are the tools, used to solve the current problem, suitable and do their effects outweigh the effects of existing solutions?

3— How was the project planned?

3.1. Can the idea really come true?

3.2. Are goals and actions clear and realistic? Has the team considered the long-term perspective?

3.3. Did the team include other persons, organizations, marketing and PR in its implementation?

3.4. Can the initiators of this idea apply the idea themselves and use the Award for Social Change in a meaningful manner?

3.5. Does the team have the means to realize the idea or should it plan how to secure capital?

3.6. Does the team have the resources needed (knowledge, skills, and experience) to implement the idea, or a plan how to provide these resources?
